Class of 1977
Summer 2013 Class Agent Letter
Dear Augie Classmates of 1977:
I hope you are enjoying a pleasant summer! I trust there will be some time to renew and recharge for each of you. I bring greetings from Omaha and Augustana College!
Just last month, 413 new graduates celebrated their hard work and accomplishments at Commencement
, held in the Elmen Center on campus-- the first time since 1949 that Commencement has been held on campus. You can learn more about the festivities that day on the Augie website: Go to www.augie.edu/commencement
to see for yourself!
The Alumni Office is busy preparing for our annual homecoming celebration. This year’s Viking Days
will be like never before! A special highlight of the weekend will be the All-Class Reunion
and Viking Varieties
event taking place on Saturday, Oct. 19 at the Washington Pavilion. Our reunion classes will be recognized at the event, but ALL alumni are invited to attend the celebration! Brian and I always enjoy our time at Augie events, and this special homecoming weekend will not disappoint! We all have friends who were a year ahead or a year behind us at Augie, so this will be a great chance to catch up with ALL of our Augie friends! The signature event begins at 6 p.m.
In addition to the All-Class Reunion Event, we are also celebrating the 60th anniversary of Viking Varieties by holding one performance at 8 p.m. in the Mary Sommervold Great Hall at the Washington Pavilion. Even though this is not a milestone reunion year for our class, we hope you will join us for an event that is sure to be great fun!
Be sure to check out the information about Viking Days 2013 on the Augie website: www.augie.edu/vikingdays
. There will be complete information in the summer edition of the Augustana
magazine as well. Registration
for Viking Days opens on July 1.
We have one class note from Karen (Forsline) Krebs, who reports that she retired this past spring from teaching in the White Bear Lake school district. Congratulations Karen!
Please feel free to send me an email with anything you would like to share with other 1977 alums, and I’ll do my part to spread the word.
I do know that our current class participation rate to the Augustana Fund
for the 2012-13 fiscal year is 14% and that the average gift was $242. All gifts are always important and appreciated. Augie’s fiscal year closes on July 31, so you may still give a gift
to the College to ensure they can finish strong. If you have questions about your personal gift to Augustana, or about our class giving, please feel free to contact Corey Camp
, Director of Annual Giving and the Augustana Fund at firstname.lastname@example.org
I hope to see you in October! Go Vikings!
