Class of 1977
Winter 2014 Class Agent Letter
Greetings Class of 1977,
I hope this letter finds you warm and cozy – snow-covered like we are in the Upper Midwest, snow-birding somewhere in the South, or wherever you are. Your class agent Deb Lund is enjoying a busy winter and asked me to write to you on her behalf. Please send any updates to Deb so she can include them in your next class letter.
VIKING DAYS 2014 - September 26 - 28
Classes ending in 4 and 9 are celebrating reunions this fall. However, ALL alumni are invited to join us for the weekend, which will feature an All-Class Reunion on Friday, Sept. 26, at the Sioux Falls Convention Center. For the most up-to-date information, visit our website at www.augie.edu/vikingdays.
NEWS FROM CAMPUS
Each January, the campus seems quieter as students settle into the new pace of Interim classes. It’s also quieter because so many students are traveling and studying abroad during this month. Students are gearing up for going on tour with the Augustana Choir, the Augustana Band and the theatre production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Augustana hosted three alumni receptions along the choir tour: in Verona, Wis. (near Madison), Moorhead, Minn., and Aberdeen, S.D. I hope you caught a performance near you!
The first week of February marked the return of our Love a Donor event. For two days in the Commons, the college and student Advancement Ambassadors invited students, faculty and staff to write thank-you notes to Augustana’s generous financial donors. These hand-written, heartfelt notes were mailed to donors in time for Valentine’s Day. This year’s event collected more than 1,200 notes – that’s more than 1,200 donors thanked!
THANK YOU to those who made a gift to Augustana last year. Speaking of donors, here is where the Class of 1977 stands in participation percentage and in average gift amount:
1970 10.00% $94 1970s:
1971 7.20% $157 Average = 9%
1972 10.20% $244 Top = 1974 (14%)
1973 12.20% $225
1974 13.80% $118
1975 9.10% $153
1976 7.90% $340
1977 7.50% $79
1978 6.10% $230
1979 6.60% $240
If you haven’t already, I encourage you to make a gift to the Augustana Fund, which now includes support all over campus: Arts, Athletics, Library, the Science Center, and where needed most. It’s your gift – your choice.
Your next class letter will come a year from now, but you’ll hear from the Alumni Office often between now and then. Be sure we have your current contact information so you don’t miss the alumni e-news, event invitations and The Augustana magazine. Meanwhile, read on for updates from your classmates, and keep in touch.
Yours, for Augustana,
Katie Foutz ‘00
