Airmen of the Year include 2008 Augustana Grad

Steven Hedgepeth '0812.16.13 — Senior Airman Steven Hedgepeth ’08 is one of 12 Airmen of the Year selected by the Air Force Association from nearly 262,000 enlisted personnel serving in the U.S. Air Force.

This award recognizes superior leadership, job performance, community involvement and personal achievements.

Hedgepeth was awarded the Outstanding Airman ribbon with the bronze service star device and will wear the Outstanding Airman badge for one year. He also will serve on the Air Force Enlisted Council for one year.

Hedgepeth is a contracting specialist with the 772nd Enterprise Sourcing Squadron at the Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. In 2013, he executed contracts worth $1.7 billion, including construction of a fire station in Kabul, Afghanistan; a facility upgrade enabling NATO intelligence training for 200 Afghan citizens a year; and contracts for assessing weapons survivability.

Augustana's efforts to support military and veteran students’ success have resulted in the College being recognized as military friendly by Military Advanced Education and Victory Media.
